Christian Development and Community Life
 
 

Mandate

• Nurture the children, youth and adults of the congregation, as individuals and as community by intentionally providing opportunities to gather as small groups for purposes of worship, mutual support, education and fun.

• Encourage the spiritual growth of each member of the congregation by providing resources that stimulate learning through our faith journey, to foster growth in the intellectual and spiritual understanding of our faith, our tradition and our mission.

• Provide opportunity for sharing the questions and stories of our faith journeys.

• Support activities that foster the community life of the congregation of Bloor Street United Church.

Activities and Responsibilities

• Organize the Christian development activities for children and youth, to be responsible for the curriculum and to recruit a church school coordinator and the church school teachers.

• Organize Christian development programs and seminars for adults and families such as a Faith and Life Seminar Series, a Lectionary Study Group and other special seminars or programs.

• Organize an annual Craddock Weekend which features a guest speaker / educator to engage the congregation, and specifically the youth, in a topic of current interest.

• Offer an annual Exploration of Faith group which explores issues of faith and doctrine in preparation for baptism and affirmation of faith.

• Initiate, organize and facilitate events that promote the community life of Bloor Street United Church.

• Help visitors, new members and adherents become involved and integrated into the life of the congregation.
