Mandate

• Promote social justice issues both at a local and at a national and international level.

• Educate the congregation about social justice issues and promote congregational activities that reach out to people in the world about us.

Activities and Responsibilities

• Provide education seminars to increase the awareness of outreach at both the local and the national / world level.

• Provide financial support to selected agencies, groups and special interest groups through the administration of the allotted budgets as well as from funds receive through fund raising and special appeals.

• Maintain and disburse the Relief of Need collection in cooperation with the Ministerial Team and the Office.

• Participate in congregational outreach programs and Presbytery and Conference social justice events.

• Support and participate in awareness events and special focus events, encouraging ecumenical participation, such as Ten Days for Global Justice, World Day of Prayer and Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.

• Participate in Outreach Coordination meetings with other local congregations, e.g. Trinity St. Paul’s and Bathurst Street United Churches.

• Report regularly to the congregation highlighting the work and concerns of the committee.

• Coordinate time-limited projects, e.g. the Refugee Projects.
