Make a Difference – formerly 4th Sunday Seminars
On the fourth Sunday of the month, the Social Justice committee presents a guest speaker. Speakers will be on Zoom, and this will be projected into the sanctuary if you would like to stay after the service. Speaker information will be sent out ahead of all sessions. A question and answer session will follow after the speaker presents. You can view past videos on our YouTube channel!
Potential Speakers:
As always we thank everyone who has offered suggestions for speakers for our sessions. We hope this will continue. Speakers should be related to the social justice concerns that BSUC is committed to learning more about and perhaps playing a small part in. If you have suggestions please contact Maure Kentner at [email protected].
4th Sunday Leadership:
Are you interested in taking on a leadership role for the 4th Sunday Seminar series? If so please contact Maure Kentner.
Petitions and Letter Writing Campaigns
You can help make change happen. Letter writing and petitions are an effective way to indicate concern for issues or praise for deeds well done. These are a part of effective advocacy that engage elected officials or other community leaders in dialogue about issues.
Togogos
The Togogos educate others and advocate for issues affecting the grandmothers of Africa as part of their on-going support of the Stephen Lewis Foundation. Petitions, fundraising events, letter writing campaigns and participating in local and national Days for Women and Children are essential parts of their activities. For more about what Togogos do and how to join this group, see their web site: www.togogograns.org. To see what Bloor Street is doing to support the Togogos, click here for all the latest news!
Special Appeals
In response to various crisis locally, nationally or internationally appeals are made to both educate about the suffering of others and to periodically request that those able to give generously help those caught up in tragic circumstances.
